Wendake/Huronia featuring The Toronto Consort – Meaford

This concert commemorates the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Champlain in the region of southern Georgian Bay. Featuring the renowned Toronto Consort, the Brookside Festival Chamber Choir and First Nations singers and drummers, the program will include “Wendake/Huronia”, a new work by the distinguished Canadian composer John Beckwith which was commissioned by Brookside Music Association with funding by the Ontario Arts Council to mark that historic event.  “Wendake/Huronia” is a truly unique celebration of the Wendat culture. The program also includes the performance of 17th century French music by The Toronto Consort and First Nations singing and drumming.
