Brookside Music Association originated in 2010 when its artistic director, John French, began hosting live music performances for local citizens in his home. In 2011, Brookside Music produced a number of music events in a Midland church that accommodates larger audiences.
Coincident with the opening of the Midland Cultural Centre in 2012, the majority of Brookside Music concerts and other musical performances were moved to the Centre’s air-conditioned Rotary Hall that is equipped with state-of-the art technical support facilities.
Brookside Music Association is a registered not-for-profit organization led by John French and a volunteer board of directors. Although the summer series, Midland’s Summer Serenade, is primarily classical in nature, the offerings throughout the year are eclectic in nature. They are intended to appeal to audiences of all ages with varying musical tastes and who have a wide diversity of backgrounds in music education or appreciation.
Brookside Music Association is committed to offering outreach and educational programs and events. One way we achieve this is through free admission to most events for children under 13 years of age.
